ACA Design Group is an established RIBA chartered practice, based in London & Beijing. With over 50 years experience and a substantial portfolio of work in London and overseas.

Associated Continental Architects was formed in 1970 by Robertson Ward and Michael Lyell for tourist developments in the Caribbean. These included the Mount Irvine Hotel and Gold Resort in Trinidad & Tobago; central area planning and the Intercontinental in Kingston, Jamaica; with numerous schemes in the Bahamas and Barbados, including the original Sandy Lane.

Subsequently ACA (Gulf) started in the Middle East with major commissions in Dubai, Sharjah, Bahrain, Egypt and Kuwait.

In 2003 ACA Beijing opened with Chinese partners, where significant construction is in hand. The practice has also acted in the United States, Europe and The Far East on medical and diplomatic contracts.

Recently ACA reorganised to concentrate on international work and has taken numerous new partners and personel as ACA Design Group. ACA has received a number of awards for developments and competition entires.

Jiang Qiao Master Plan, Bengbu, An Hui

ACA Design Group recently worked on a master plan for a new town in Bengbu. This town covered 14 square kilometres and will house 70,000 residents. Positioned on an important transport crossroads between Beijing and Shaughai, the new town includes designs for all aspects of a town including commercial, residential, school, hospital, retail and logistic facilities.

Environmental and landscaping considerations have been important factors. The project has been approved in principle by the local government and should now move forward to detail design stage. (read more...)
